We seek to maintain a diverse community at Rice University and build bridges whenever essential and dismantle walls wherever necessary. In keeping with that spirit, the Multicultural Community Relations team enhances relationships between Rice and the minority communities inside and outside the university.
Multicultural Community Relations extends Rice’s wealth of enrichment opportunities to the Houston community through a number of local multicultural events that reach students, alumni, and neighborhood and city associations.
The pursuit of a more tolerant society begins with an engaging discussion, idea sharing and collaboration. By hosting conferences and community dialogues around our campus and beyond, our knowledgeable staff is at the forefront of that conversation.
Through a number of outreach programs, Rice University fosters a culture of understanding between diverse people, ideas and perspectives. We invite you to get involved with one of our programs and help enrich our community.
A quarterly publication, Rice at Large raises awareness of the university’s outreach programs while building a bridge between the university and our diverse community.
The MCR team has compiled a list of scholarships that are available to local students. If your organization offers scholarships, or if you are familiar with a scholarship program that benefits students in our community, please contact David Medina at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our staff introduces many high school students to higher education by providing them with their first visit to a college campus. Our knowledgeable staff offers students from different backgrounds and cultures an inside look at Rice University through campus tours. Contact the Welcome Center to schedule a tour.
